Celebrating 50 years in photonics, I’m preserving my research and launching one final fiber‑optic R&D phase.

Sunlight, physics, and photonics shape vast areas from optics to defense. The text urges society and politicians to prioritize STEM expertise.

I conclude my historical series on photonics and telecom, my transition to author, and my refocused roles as author, scientist, and developer.

It all began with a simple question from a colleague at Ericsson — and it set my career on a new path.

Following the success of the SC concept came a period of setbacks. Illness and Sweden’s economic downturn only worsened my personal situation.
